چکیده

The WHO Multi-country Study on Women’s Health and Domestic Violence against Women is a research initiative that has produced data on intimate-partner violence comparable across the 10 countries in this report: Bangladesh, Brazil, Ethiopia, Japan, Namibia, Peru, Samoa, Serbia and Montenegro, Thailand, and the United Republic of Tanzania. Carried out in adherence to strict ethical, safety and quality control procedures, the Study’s use of a standardized and rigorous methodology has resulted in robust data, which permit comparison between survey sites in the same country, and between countries. The WHO Study is also the first to provide data from developing countries on the association between violence and health outcomes at a population level. The following is a brief summary of the WHO Study findings and conclusions, along with an assessment of the strengths and limitations of the Study, and a discussion of future areas for research and analysis.

Predisposition towards participating in or being a victim of VAW is not differentiated by socio-economic status, professional barrier, caste, age and geographical boundari...
